BlackRock CEO Larry Fink is now considered a Bitcoin sympathizer

BlackRock CEO Larry Fink recently attracted attention with Bitcoin-friendly statements and bullish BTC forecasts. In an annual letter to the shareholders of the world's largest asset manager, he now points out an ambivalence.
Referring to the crypto reserve currency, the letter states: "The US has benefited for decades from the dollar being the world's reserve currency. But there is no guarantee that it will remain so forever."
The BlackRock CEO warns: "If the US does not get its debt under control, if the deficits continue to swell, America risks losing this position to digital assets such as Bitcoin."
He is by no means against cryptocurrencies, but two things could well be true at the same time: On the one hand, decentralized finance is "an extraordinary innovation" and makes markets "faster, cheaper and more transparent."

On the other hand, it could undermine the economic advantage of the US through its world reserve status if "investors start to see Bitcoin as a safer bet than the US dollar".
"The national debt has grown three times as fast as GDP since the debt clock started ticking in Times Square in 1989," criticizes Fink. At 952 billion US dollars, interest payments would exceed defense spending for the first time in 2025.
Nevertheless, the BlackRock CEO also emphasizes the sensational success of the in-house iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, which has grown to over USD 50 billion in assets under management in less than a year.
BlackRock's ETF currently holds 575,847 BTC, which corresponds to a market share of around 51 percent.
